Since the first gay bars established themselves in San Francisco in the 1920s the city has been a hub of the gay community in the USA. The LGBT culture is as much a part of San Francisco’s identity as the Golden Gate Bridge.

The city’s club scene epitomises diversity, with every taste catered for, from chic wine bars to all night raves. For risqué drag shows visit Kimo’s or for booming top 40 dance remixes check out the Cafe. Beach Blanket Babylon is the longest running musical in the world, a family friendly, tongue-in-cheek and oh so camp affair! There’s something for everyone, so be sure to get yourself out in the Castro.
Check out the 24 Henry and Village House guest houses for a relaxed but elegant bed and breakfast that is situated in the heart of San Francisco’s gay area, the Castro District. Another popular B&B with the gay community is the Parker House guest house, also located in the Castro District.
You must visit the renowned AsiaSF; a nightclub – restaurant combination located in the South of Market district. The lounge, restaurant and bar are accompanied by a wonderful dance club. The exotic dishes are outdone only by the entertainment.
If a romantic dinner for two is more your idea of the perfect night, visit Catch for exquisite seafood with lively jazz piano and views over Market Street on the Castro.

The beautiful scenery in San Fran offers the perfect setting for romantic walks. The Golden Gate Bridge, the Frisco skyline, rolling hills and gorgeous sunsets make San Francisco the beautiful city it is. Walk the Golden Gate Bridge to truly appreciate its magnificence and stroll along Baker Beach trying not to ogle at some of the fine bodies on show.
In short, San Francisco is the perfect LGBT experience. You won’t find a street without a rainbow flag and the vibrant Castro district oozes gay; from shopping to nightlife and everything in between. Once you’re there, visit the LGBT community centre to really get to grips with everything San Fran has to offer you.
